Sheehy Skeffington: Síocháiní

19/02/2016

Sheehy Skeffington: Síochánaí will be broadcast on TG4 on Tuesday 8th March at 9.30pm. It’s the life story of Frank Sheehy Skeffington, the Downpatrick born pacifist, feminist and journalist who was cruelly executed at the start of the Easter Rising in 1916. Frank was an eye witness to key moments in Irish history – a friend of James Joyce, a colleague of James Connolly and the partner of Hanna Sheehy Skeffington, one of Ireland’s most prominent feminist activists. His pointless murder made headlines across the world, contributing to the growing demand for independence in revolutionary Ireland, while obscuing his role in the formation of modern Ireland.

Craolfar Sheehy Skeffy: Síochainí ar TG4 ar an Máirt, an 8ú Márta ag 9.30pm.

Léiríonn ‘Sheehy Skeffington: Síochánaí’ beatha Frank Sheehy Skeffington, a rugadh i nDún Pádraig, feimineach agus iriseoir a daoradh chun báis go truacánta ag tús Éirí Amach na Cásca 1916. Ba finné súl é Frank ar eochairmhóimintí i stair na hÉireann – cara le James Joyce, comhghleacaí le James Connolly agus céile Hanna Sheehy Skeffington, an gníomhaí feimineach ba mhó in Éirinn. Ba bhás beagchéillí é a spreag ceannlínte ar fud an domhain, ag cur go mór leis an ghéilleadh do neamhspleáchas in Éirinn réabhlóideach, ach ag cealú a ról i bhfíorú Éire na linne seo.
